Chartered Business Valuators Institute (CBV Institute) is pleased to announce the 2022 Business Valuation Challenge, a national business valuation case competition for undergraduate students from numerous prominent business schools across Canada.
ABOUT THE CHALLENGE
Teams comprised of two to four individuals will be given the opportunity to compete with students from other universities in a test of their business valuation skills. The winning team will be awarded $10,000. Second and third place will receive $5,000 and $2,500, respectively.
The business valuation case study has been developed by a team of highly respected Chartered Business Valuators (CBVs) and refined for a university audience. All participants will have the opportunity to attend a training session to learn the basics of business valuation that can be applied to the case study. The case study will be provided in English, and presentations are expected to be conducted in English as well.
Registration is now closed.
The competition will take place on November 17 and 18, 2022.
WHAT THE TOP THREE TEAMS WILL RECEIVE
+ complimentary enrolment to Level 1 in the CBV Program of Studies
How It Works
20 teams compete on an identical business valuation-related case study. All participants will have the opportunity to participate in a one-hour lecture, hosted by a CBV business valuation specialist, to learn the basic skills needed to be successful. Those unable to attend will receive a link to a recording of the session.
Challenge participants will receive the case study on the morning of Thursday, November 10, and have the weekend to complete the case. The case study response/presentation is to be submitted online by 11:59 PM EST on Monday, November 14. An email will be sent to participants with submission instructions.
On November 17, all teams will be given 20 minutes to virtually present their case study to CBV judges who will assess them based on the accuracy, attention to detail and overall presentation. The top three teams will be notified at the end of the day and will proceed to the final round.
On November 18, the three final teams will present their updated cases (based on day one feedback) to the CBV judges once again. The judges will then confer and announce the results.
NETWORKING & CAREER FAIR
On the afternoon of November 17, CBV Institute will be hosting a networking and career fair where challenge participants can meet potential future employers. Participants will have the opportunity to meet with three different employer sponsors in small groups of five.
An email will be sent to all participants once registration has closed to choose preferred employer sponsors. Spots will be on a first come, first served basis. Learn more about our employer sponsors.
Registration for the 2022 competition is closed!
