BUSINESS VALUATION CHALLENGE 2023

On the heels of our very successful inaugural undergraduate case competition, we are pleased to announce that the Challenge will be returning in 2023.

Details to come in Summer 2023.

Chartered Business Valuators Institute (CBV Institute) is pleased to announce the 2023 Business Valuation Challenge, a national business valuation case competition for undergraduate students from numerous prominent business schools across Canada.

ABOUT THE CHALLENGE

Teams comprised of two to four individuals will be given the opportunity to compete with students from other universities in a test of their business valuation skills. The winning team will be awarded $10,000. Second and third place will receive $5,000 and $2,500, respectively.

The 2023 business valuation case study will be developed by a team of highly respected Chartered Business Valuators (CBVs) and refined for a university audience. All participants will have the opportunity to attend a training session to learn the basics of business valuation that can be applied to the case study. The case study will be provided in English, and presentations are expected to be conducted in English as well.

Details regarding BV Challenge 2023 will be available in Summer 2023. Registration will open in September.

Eligibility: All participants must be 18+ and enrolled at a four-year degree-granting Canadian institution

Challenge participants will receive the case study in advance. The case study response/presentation is will be submitted online.

3.

On Day 1, teams will be given 20 minutes to virtually present their case study to CBV judges who will assess them based on accuracy, attention to detail, and overall presentation. The top three teams will be notified at the end of the day and will proceed to the final round.

4.

On Day 2, the three final teams will present their updated cases (based on day one feedback) to the CBV judges once again. The judges will then confer and make their decisions. The final order will be announced by Dr. Christine Sawchuk, President & CEO, CBV Institute.
