Meet the Judges

Matthew Ackers, CBV, CFA is a Principal in the Private Market Valuations team at S&P Global Market Intelligence in Toronto, Ontario, with over a decade of experience in valuation and advisory services. He specializes in the valuation of illiquid assets, including private equity and private credit, as well as fund net asset value (NAV) valuations and complex financial instrument valuations. Previously, Matthew held roles at PwC Canada and RSM Canada.

Stephen has over 20 years of experience specializing in the areas of business valuation, corporate finance and loss quantification. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the International Institute of Business Valuers. He has qualified as an expert witness at various Courts in Ontario and at international arbitrations.

Ali maintains a diverse valuations practice with an emphasis on business valuation, damages quantification, forensic accounting and transaction advisory services. Ali has prepared expert valuation reports for a variety of litigation and dispute matters including intellectual property infringements, breach of contract and shareholder disputes. Ali has experience valuing companies across a wide variety of industries including mining, pharmaceuticals, automotive retail, manufacturing, food and beverage, financial services, gaming and real estate.

Michael Riseley graduated from Ontario Tech in 2012 with a Bachelor of Commerce in accounting and was issued his CPA and CBV designations in 2015 and 2017 respectively. Currently, Michael is a Partner at Holmes Riseley CPAs and Tax Advisors where he relied upon for his business valuation background and provides industry-leading advisory services by identifying value drivers and growth areas for businesses to maximize their value in a potential sale. In Michael’s spare time, he acts as the Vice Chair for PRHC Foundation, the Treasurer of Community Futures Peterborough and as Chair of the Finance Committee for Ganaraska Credit Union.

Michael Rudanycz is a managing director of SLC Management works on Private Equity LP Commitments, Senior Secured Lending including Fund Finance (GP/NAV/Company Level), Origination and Business Development.  Prior to his 14 years at SLC Michael has worked at a Dancap Private Equity, RBC and KPMG and has an extensive background in Lending and Private Equity.

Ephraim Stulberg is a partner with MDD, based in Toronto. He specialises in the areas of business valuation, economic loss quantification and investigative accounting, mainly in the context of litigation support. He has provided expert evidence in court and at arbitration, including in front of the Ontario Land Tribunal. He has worked on matters across Canada, as well as the United States, Europe, South America, the Middle East and Asia. 

Kinjal Shah is a business valuation professional, currently working with the damages group at Secretariat Advisors. Her professional experience spans across valuing companies for financial reporting and legal compliances and damage quantification in legal disputes. She enjoys the dynamism of the valuation profession where each case presents a novel set of challenges and thrives in academic research. After work hours, you might find her buried in a book.

Jinwei is a Manager in KPMG’s Vancouver Valuations Team, where he focuses on business valuations, modelling, advisory, and financial reporting assignments. With around four years of experience, he has had the opportunity to support a range of clients on projects requiring careful analysis and practical solutions. Jinwei holds CPA, CFA, and CBV designations, and earned a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Victoria. 

Jos Vervaet, CBV, CPA is the Vice President of Finance & Corporate Development at Richardson International Limited, where he plays a pivotal role in shaping strategic initiatives and driving corporate growth. Based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Jos brings deep expertise in executive financial leadership and M&A strategy. He is a Chartered Business Valuator (CBV), with a strong track record of leading investment decisions with a commitment to long-term value creation. 

John is a Senior Manager in KPMG’s Deal Advisory Services practice and has been providing valuation services for public and private companies for over 8 years. John lives and works out of Ottawa, with a focus on real estate, technology, and enterprise clients. In addition to being a CBV, he is also a Chartered Professional Accountant and Chartered Financial Analyst.

Enoch Xu is the founder of Valuation Solutions. Enoch specializes in valuations for corporate reorganization and financial reporting. His passion is solving complex valuation problems using the latest technology. Enoch enjoys providing quality valuation services while solving practical problems for clients.
